Delta Group Electronics Inc and Quantum Technology Sciences Partnership

COCOA BEACH – A new agreement between Quantum Technology Sciences, a provider of sophisticated seismic detection solutions based in Cocoa Beach, and Delta Group Electronics in Rockledge, is leading to new jobs for both companies.

Delta Group, which is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has a manufacturing operation off Gus Hipp Boulevard in Rockledge, is producing Quantum's seismic acoustic sensor system, which captures vibrations in the ground and then interprets them to classify between security threats or non-breach situations. That could include human footsteps and motorized vehicles versus, say, an animal.

There are numerous applications for the Quantum sensors, such as perimeter security at high-valued sites and critical infrastructure.

To meet Quantum's manufacturing requirements — along with increased work from other Florida customers — Delta Group is near completion of a 10,000-square-foot addition to its existing 35,000-square-foot facility. Also, Delta Group is adding at least 35 of what it calls "technically skilled employees" by the end of the year.

That's on top of the 100 local workers already at Delta Group.

"We are very excited that Quantum management has selected Delta Group as its (engineering manufacturing services) provider," said Harry Mueller, president and chief executive officer of Delta Group.

Mueller traveled from Albuquerque to Rockledge last week to meet with Quantum executives and review the Rockledge manufacturing operation.

"We are 100 percent committed to supporting Quantum's expanding product lines," he said.

Quantum selected Delta Group as its manufacturer this summer, and since then, the high-tech company has continued research and development to expand its security and surveillance product line.

The current product, a single channel version, is highly portable and easy to install for remote asset monitoring. Quantum is releasing a multichannel version of its seismic acoustic intrusion detection system early next year. The newer system will serve larger, permanent installations with integration into other security systems such as cameras, radar and smart fencing.

Quantum is currently conducting installation surveys at nearly 50 large sites across the Eastern U.S., some with perimeters in excess of 1.25 kilometers.

"Our location on the Space Coast provided us with outstanding opportunities to identify highly capable partners to meet the sophisticated manufacturing needs of our product," said Quantum Chief Executive Officer Mark Tinker. "It's even more rewarding to have partners fully vested in our success. Much of our revenue will come from outside Brevard County, so this type of growth benefits both our companies and our local community."

Quantum currently has 39 employees and is looking to increase that number by at least 10 in 2015 as it beefs up its technology, product development and field engineering staff. The company will also significantly expand its marketing and sales.
